PHANTOM CANYON DOWNHILL BIKE RIDE
June 4; 8:30 am from the Outdoor Rec and return time 5:30 pm estimated. This exciting downhill bike ride through the scenic Phantom Canyon. Be prepared to drop more than 4,000 feet of elevation in 28 miles. Beautiful views, tight canyon walls and tunnels make this our most popular single day bike event. Activity includes: transportation, guide, support and snack lunch. Note: this is an old narrow gauge railroad line converted to a dirt road with following vehicle support, not single track. Ages: 12+. Cost: $45.
SANTA FE RIDE
June 7, 23; 5:30 pm from the Outdoor Rec and return time 8 pm. Come for
the ride, the fresh air, the exercise, meet people, discover the world of cycling or just enjoy a low cost family activity. This ride has something for everyone. Bike ride from Outdoor Rec. 15 miles south (downhill) down the Santa Fe trail to America the Beautiful Park. A van will be waiting to bring you back up. Min. age to participate is 12. Cost: $5; ages 12-16 are free but still need to sign up.
BICYCLING FOR BEGINNERS
June 11–12. We are offering a two-day class to improve your biking skills and knowledge. Class size is limited to only five students and must be ages 20+.
Day 1, 9 am–noon: Learn the different types of bikes and their main purposes, how to fit a bike to you, understanding of how the brakes and gear operations work and when to use them, starting and stopping a bike, seat comfort, front wheel removal and more.
Day 2, 9 am–2 pm: Other than a couple of miles on base, we will be on the Santa Fe bike path honing your skills. Starting and stopping on flat and on hills, proper braking and slowing, riding around others safely, signaling, shifting and more. Day two has a shuttle to bring you back to USAFA.
Cost:$65, covers both days and shuttles. Class size is limited to only five students.
BIKE RIDE DOWN PIKES PEAK
June 19; 8:30 am from the Outdoor Rec and return time 5 pm estimated. Get ready to enjoy more than 7000’ of
elevation drop over about 21 miles. Meet at the Outdoor Rec., inspect and load bikes, drive up to the summit of Pikes Peak, unload, take in the view then enjoy a downhill ride of a lifetime. At the end of the ride we’ll stop at “Rudy’s” restaurant before we head home. Ages: 14+ and 4’9” or greater. Activity includes: Transportation, Pike’s Peak entry, guides and snacks. Note: this is a paved road with vehicle support, not single track. Cost: $59, meal not included.
Rock Climbing
BEGINNER ROCK CLIMBING
June 11, 19; meet at 7 am, return 3 pm.
Come out and learn the basic skills and techniques for this popular Colorado sport. Activity includes: transportation, necessary technical gear and a AMGA Certified Single Pitch Instructor/Rock Guide. Cost: $90. Ages 9+, all minors must be accompanied by an adult.
AMGA SINGLE PITCH INSTRUCTOR COURSE/ASSESSMENT
June 3-5, Assessment June 25-26. Interested in learning more about climbing instruction and the professional side of the industry? Or, just want to learn some industry “best practice” style skills for single pitch climbing with your friend and family? These programs set you up for success with accredited, national level training in the industry professional standard for single pitch rock climbing instruction and skill sets, and are taught by AMGA Certified Rock Guides and SPI Providers. The three-day initial course teaches top rope systems managed
from above and below, belay and rescue
systems and teaching techniques to help your students thrive in this new skill. The two-day assessment examines proficiency with these skills and allows the candidate to achieve certification through the American Mountain Guides Association as a Single Pitch Instructor if they pass. PORTABLE CLIMBING TOWER

a climbing tower program at our FamCamp this summer! A great activity to pair with a squadron event, BBQ
or party on grounds. Our portable climbing tower can accommodate up to four climbers at a time, is 35ft tall, and comes with all the staff and equipment necessary. Schedule a four-hour day or a six-hour day and have some fun! Cost: $500/four hours; $700/six hours for ages seven and over, 50lbs plus.
MULTI-PITCH AND ADVANCED CLIMBING TRIP
We can teach you how to build climbing anchors, climb longer routes with multiple pitches, place and lead on traditional protection, and most importantly, get you off the ground higher then you have ever been with an AMGA Certified Rock Guide. Cost: $90/ person for two–four people per trip. Includes your guide, transportation, technical gear if needed and a custom curriculum to suit your desired outcomes.
