Download the Libby app on your device
- Go to App Store and search for Libby
- Install Libby, the Library App
- Open the Libby App
- Select YES, I have a Library Card
- Search for ‘Department of Defense’ in ‘Find my Library’
- Hit Sign in with my Library card (this will prompt another webpage to open in your browser. Hit continue.)
- Here, enter your DoD ID number along with your date of birth and submit.
- Then hit NO on the local national question and submit again.
- After verification you will be brought back to the Libby App and can begin using Libby.
Already have the Libby app?
- You may want to add the Department of Defense Library.
- Hit the home button on your Libby App
- Go to ‘find my Library’ and enter ‘Department of Defense’ into the Search bar
- Hit Sign in with my Library card (this will prompt another webpage to open in your browser. Hit continue.)
- Here, enter your DoD ID number along with your date of birth and submit.
- Then hit NO on the local national question and submit again.
- After verification you will be brought back to the Libby App and can toggle between multiple libraries.

Failure to cooperate with staff requests may result in loss of library privileges, and /or Security Forces involvement.
Patron Use/Materials/Account Guidelines
- All patrons must register and renew accounts at the Circulation Desk.
- Patrons 12 years old or older may register for an account with a valid, unexpired DoD ID. Please refer to the DAFI 34-101, DoD MWR Table. There are Loan Limits for all media types except books. Please ask at the Circulation Desk for a current list of Loan Limits. Please make your selections based on the number of items that can be used in a 3-week period.
- “Barred” patrons must clear the account with barring library, prior to creating/moving or updating an account at USAF Academy Base Library.
- Books may be checked out on the Self-Check Kiosk with a valid library account. All other material types must be checked out through the circulation desk.
- Reserves for USAF Academy Base Library materials must be picked up at USAF Academy Base Library. If your HOME library is not USAFA, you may need staff to use this service.
- Notices will be sent out by DoD ILS. Items overdue for 30+ days can no longer be renewed. Personal contact will be made by a library staff member to discuss return or replacement of LONG OVERDUE items.
- “Barring” may occur as soon as 90 days after the item is due. “Barred” means that items are marked lost and the account is no longer in good standing which may impact library use at any DoD library. Severity of item damages and replacement is determined bystaff expertise and the availability. Some items in the library’s collection are expensive to replace. If you have concerns about the cost of an item, please discuss this with staff.

About THE BASE LIBRARY
The Base Library is a one-stop-shop for all your educational and entertainment needs. We offer books and magazines, enclosed study pods, AF Mil Network and commercial network computers with printing and scanning capabilities, video games, PS5, Switch, and XBOX X consoles for in-library use, sewing machines, 3-D printers, board games, DVDs, audio books and much more. We provide a variety of materials for all ages. Stop by the Base Library today!
Those who are temporarily at USAFA and have an established, active account in the DoD Integrated Library System, may use their home DoD Library account to check out materials. Patrons without an active account in the DoD Integrated Library System may have a TEMPORARY account that entitles you to 2 items. Due date for items is no later than your last day in the local area.
