Are You a Current Cac Holder? Renew Your Dependent Id Cards Online
Sponsors can request card renewals online through ID Card Office Online. Cards will be printed by the Government Publishing Office and mailed to the card recipient via U.S. mail.
REQUIREMENTS
- Sponsor must be a Common Access card (CAC) holder and requesting a renewal of an active USID card.
- The Sponsor and the card recipient must have email addresses listed in the Defense Enrollment Ellgibility
- Reporting System (DEERS) that they have authorized DoD to use for contacting them.
- Authorization to use email for official contact can be made under •My Profile• on the IDCO website ID Card Office Online.
- The Sponsor’s personnel status must extend at least 30 days in the future from the renewal request date.
- The card recipient has a photo saved in DEERS taken in the last 12 years.
- The card recipient’s mailing address is present in DEERS and in the continental United States, Hawaii, or Alaska. Cannot be a Post Office (PO) Box.
CAC ID Renewal
If you REQUIRE A NEW ID, make an appointment by clicking the button below. Select the button under “Site Locator and Appointments.” When at the Locator, enter zip code 80840 to find the Community Center ID Card Office. Scroll to the bottom and select “Schedule an Appointment.”
Appointments are open in three month segments starting on the 1st of the present month. (e.g. Jan–Mar, Feb–April, etc.)

WALK-IN AND APPOINTMENT PROCEDURES
- The online calendar will be open on the first of the month for the next 3 months to schedule appointments. If appointments are full please call 719-333-8766 option 2 for assistance.
- To confirm your appointment, print out your confirmation e-mail to show a technician when you sign in.

LOST OR STOLEN ID AND PROXY PROCESS
- For CAC users, if your ID has been lost or stolen you must obtain a lost/stolen memo from the USAFA Pass & Registration office outside the south gate.
- Once the memo is obtained, bring that lost memo and two forms of government/state issued ID (one must obtain a photo like a driver’s license) to the DEERS office to obtain a new ID.
- For dependent IDs, no memo from Pass & Registration is required. Just bring in two forms of government/state issued ID (one must obtain a photo)
- If you have a CAC that has proxy issues, you must obtain a proxy memo from the USAFA Pass & Registration office outside the south gate.
- Once the memo is obtained, bring that proxy memo, your CAC, and a second form of government/state issued ID to the DEERS office to obtain a new ID.
FULL TIME STUDENT GUIDE: AGES 21-23
- Enrollment verification memo from the college the student attends (national student clearinghouse or school register).
- The memo must contain: (Current term dates, “full time” status and the anticipated class grad date).
- Ensure you have two forms of ID and the enrollment verification memo present for your appointment.
- Sponsor must be present unless a DD Form 1172 was completed or dependent has a general power of attorney for processing.
- A dependent can be in full time status to receive benefits from the ages of 21-23.

MILCONNECT GUIDE FOR DD1172
- Go to the website: https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/ (On a Dot Mil Computer)
- Select “Family ID Cards”
- Ensure you have a DS Login if you no longer have a CAC for access to the site.
- Once logged in, select “Print Family List”
- Select the box marked “Select All Family Members” and proceed.
- Read and acknowledge the statement and select “I agree”
- For the summary, read the statement and select “Proceed”
- For confirmation, select “Display Form”
- If you have a CAC, digitally sign block 22 and date block 23
- If you do not have a CAC, print out the 1172 and have it signed/stamped in front of a notary.
TRICARE YOUNG ADULT AGES 21–26 GUIDE
- Please contact Tricare (See “Helpful Numbers”) to have your dependent added in Tricare under the program.
- Dependents can be under Tricare Young Adult from the ages of 21-26. A dependent cannot be on Tricare Young Adult and a full time student for benefits.
- If a member is a full-time student from age 21-23, the member must contact the DEERS office to provide the dependent’s graduation date. After, the sponsor will contact Tricare to enroll the dependent in Tricare Young Adult from age 23-26.

100% VA DISABILITY GUIDE
- Must have a VA benefits summary letter stating “100%” and your date of when you became totally and permanently disabled.
- Must have a copy of your DD 214.
- If you need to add/remove a dependent, please refer to the “Dependent Criteria” button.
- Ensure you have two forms of ID, the benefit summary letter and the DD 214 present for processing.

ADDING/REMOVING DEPENDENTS
- To add a spouse to your record, please ensure your dependent brings in the following items:
- Marriage Certificate
- SSN Card (if name change will happen, SSN will need to have new last name)
- Birth Certificate
- One Valid form of ID like a driver’s license (if name change will occur, ID must have new last name)
- To add a newborn, please ensure you bring in the following items:
- Birth certificate/Proof of Birth
- SSN card (if available). If the SSN card isn’t available, ensure the card is brought into a DEERS office once received for update. Failure to accomplish this can result in benefits being dropped from the record
- To remove a dependent from your record, please ensure you bring in the following:
- Divorce decree signed/stamped from the court
TRANSFERRING DEPENDENT TO ANOTHER SPONSOR
Need email traffic between both sponsors agreeing to the transfer.

DEPENDENT CRITERIA
- The age for a dependent to receive an ID card is 14 or older per the 2021 DoD Memo.
- A dependent that is 17 or under does not require any ID to receive an ID.
If a child has an old ID, please have them bring in the old ID to get replaced with a new one. - Dependents between the age of 18 and older must bring in two forms of government/state issued ID (one must obtain a photo like a driver’s license) to receive a new ID.
- Sponsor must be present unless a DD Form 1172 was completed or dependent has a general power of attorney for processing.

ADD NON-IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBER TO DEERS
- Please use the DFAS website to begin the process and read the definition of Secondary Dependency:
Defense Finance and Accounting Service > MilitaryMembers > SecondaryDependency > SDC (dfas.mil) - Select “Secondary Dependency” on the left of the page and select your branch.
- The following page will have the documents needed to initiate the process.
- Once the process is complete, please bring completed documentation from DFAS to the DEERS office along with the SSN card, birth certificate and one form of picture ID (if 18 or older).
