FULL MOTION FLIGHT SIMULATOR
The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) Flight Training Center and Aero Club has a new, state-of-the-art RedBird MCX, full motion simulator to its training program. The new simulator will enhance the training experience of the cadets enrolled in the flight program by providing a more realistic and immersive environment for their training.
The RedBird MCX full motion simulator is designed to provide a fully immersive flight experience, allowing the cadets to train in a safe and controlled environment. The simulator features a 220-degree wrap-around visual display, a fully-functional cockpit, and advanced motion technology, which replicates the feeling of flying an actual aircraft.
In the past, simulators have been used almost exclusively for instrument instruction and a single screen was all you needed to show the runway when the student broke out at minimums. The Redbird MCX is also a great primary training platform, thanks in large part to its expansive visual displays. Students can now practice turns-around-a-point or they can see the highway they’ll pass over on their long cross-country. With a world-wide terrain database to support the 200° visuals, the MCX lets student experience the view from the cockpit before they ever leave the ground.
The USAFA Flight Training Center and Aero Club states, “The addition of the RedBird MCX full motion simulator is a significant upgrade to our training program. This new technology will provide our cadets with a more realistic and immersive training environment, which will help them develop the necessary skills to become successful pilots.“
The USAFA Flight Training Center and Aero Club has a long history of providing exceptional flight training to its cadets. The addition of the new RedBird MCX full motion simulator is part of the Academy’s ongoing commitment to investing in the latest training technologies and techniques to provide the best possible education and training to its students.
The RedBird MCX full motion simulator is available for use by members at the USAFA Flight Training Center as well as for simulator Discovery Flights for non-members.
REDBIRD – MCX FLIGHT SIMULATOR – $50 HOUR
The Redbird is an AATD Simulator with 3-axis motion.
The Redbird MCX is a superior-quality, full motion, feature-rich Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD). With standard features such as wrap-around visuals, a fully enclosed cockpit, quick-change configurations, scenario-based training compatibility and of course an electric motion platform, the MCX serves up a level of realism that is simply unavailable in other training devices on the market.
You will be impressed with the authenticity of the Redbird’s performance, responsiveness, and visual accuracy. Its ability to simulate actual conditions, including change in weather, mechanical failure, and specific training points, will prepare student pilots to anticipate and mentally train for real-time situations.
The Redbird MCX can be easily configured with three aircraft modules:
- Cessna 172-S with conventional deck and the Garmin 430/530
- Cessna 172-G with glass deck and the Garmin 1000
